In other words, this tincture contains the active compounds of a plant which seems to act as a mild sedative. Although it has a long history, there have been few scientific studies conducted on the plant and its properties. Some users report no effects, others feel effects very vividly. This tincture was created using a concentrated extract of blue lotus such that it has a strength of 1:1. That means that for every ounce of liquid, one ounce of blue lotus petals were used. The liquid consists of 60% water and 40% grain alcohol v/v (volume per volume). The active compounds of the plant dissolve into the water and the alcohol, while the alcohol also acts as a preservative. This means your tincture will have a shelf life of at least a couple of years. Another benefit of tinctures is that they are absorbed into the bloodstream rapidly. This allows for starting with a small dose, gauging the strength of the effect, and increasing the dose if necessary.
Directions: Shake well. An appropriate dose of this herb varies considerably between individuals. Begin with a few drops under the tongue and increase as desired. If the taste is difficult to handle, mix the drops into water or juice and drink the mixture.
