Just installed hydrant a week ago. Pretty strait forward. Hydrant appears to be of decent quality.Good thing I had a young strong son to hand dig the hole and unearth the old one !!!!!! (it was replacing an existing hydrant). I'm not as young as I used to be :)

This hydrant is awesome. Easy to open and close which is an issue with my arthritic hands. I needed a hydrant out by my garden instead of running hoses everywhere. This works great. I like that once you turn it off it self drains so that in winter it won't freeze. We have hard winters with weeks of hard freeze so the depth of this works well. Easy to install and very easy to use.

This 6ft. Bury depth frost proof yard hydrant is a must for everyone. It has a shut off valve which operates below the frost line to supply running water for reliable irrigation even in the coldest weather. This hydrant has has a strong 1in galvanized steel stand pipe. It’s self draining when handle is in closed position to prevent freezing. The head is cast iron with a bucket hook. The bury depth is 72in. Which 27in. Will be above ground. This 6 foot frost-proof yard hydrant is well made. I have several frost-proof hydrants from 3 or 4 other makers. I consider this hydrant one of the best made hydrants that i own. It is made with high grade steel and designed to be repaired with a minimum amount of work. The hydrant is easy to turn on and off and is also easy to adjust if needed. I will buy more of this hydrant.

This is a really smooth operating hydrant. Our soil is mostly sandstone so we ran the drain tube about 3 feet away from it into a 5 gallon bucket of gravel with drain holes so it never freezes. Our frost line is 6 feet and this will do a good job of keeping water available through the winter for the chicken house. The shut off mechanism is a round ball which should last a good long time, unlike those with just a washer. Comes with good advice to flush the line before the final connection.

The 6 FT. BURY DEPTH FROST-PROOF YARD HYDRANT is an excellent addition to any property where you need an outdoor water supply all year long without the fear of the line freezing. If you need to be able to water your farm animals or water your plants in a "Hot House/Green House" that is away from your main water supply this is the piece of equipment you need to attach to your buried water line to give you that much needed peace of mind that it will be safe from freezing. A frost-free hydrant is the way to go when supplying water to an outside location. Be fore-warned that a "6-ft bury depth" hydrant is actually more than 8 ft in length, to allow for enough length to get below your area's frost depth line. The installation instructions are excellent. I recommend the use of a 4x4 pressure treated post for additional support on this tall hydrant. It is also good to understand the reason for the warning about leaving a hose connected in cold weather.
