Product Description
Along with its big brother, the Lightning MTS 275, the Lightning MTS 225 is the latest in the heavy-duty MIG/TIG/STICK series to feature AC/DC TIG welding capability. This new series of features revised synergic function now called "Power Set" and now includes auto set parameters for all three modes. The LIghting MTS 225 is a 200 Amp unit that excels not only in features, it also excels with performance. The new design allows the user to view most all relevant settings simulaneously. This reduces scrolling effort and allows near instantaneous adjustment of all common parameters in use. The new PowerSET function allows the customer to enter basic operating parameters in MIG, TIG, or Stick mode, and automatically selects the proper Amps and Volts (where applicable) for the user, as well as a few other possible adjustments. This new unit also features a Flux-Core mode for operation with most common types of Flux Core wire (without gas/self shielding). As powerful as the welder is, it is also capable of operating on 120V if the unit needs to be carried to the work. Of course, you'll have reduced output, but you will not suffer for lack of available duty cycle. As far as operating duty cycle at full-tilt output, TIG and Stick feature 60% output and MIG features 35% at maximum amperage for the Process. That means, for MIG, at 200 Amps, you'll have 35% duty cycle available. Add the
PowerCart 250
and the
PowerCool W300
for a convenient, stacked design to complete this welder. If you choose the cooler option, be sure to order the water-cooled torch package for this welder.

AC capability on TIG allows user to weld aluminum. Industry first for this type design.
Pulse TIG capability increases control and weld quality.
Compact and light weight design makes the unit extremely portable, ideal for on-site fabrication.
Adjustable Burn-back control keeps the wire energized after wire has stopped feeding to allow the wire to melt back to a desired length without retrimming wire before restarts.
8" Diameter wire spool capacity maintains portability while maintaining productivity.
Adjustable MIG Wave arc force control manages slope/ inductance and fine tunes arc characteristics.
Adjustable stick Arc Force and New Hot Start controls allows the user to dial in desired Stick welding performance.
TIG Up and Down slope allows the user to control the end of the welding cycle.
2T/4T torch trigger/latch function offers stepped control welding with TIG and MIG.
Adjustable Pre and Post flow for TIG and MIG operation improves over all weld quality.
200 Amps of MIG and TIG power offer more than enough power to get the job done. 160 amps of stick welding power can be used with up to 1/8" welding rods.
Dual Voltage design will operate on 120V or 240V. Output on 120V is limited to 125 amps MIG/TIG/ 100 amps Stick.
