    Yarrow is a popular use in skin healing salves aimed at dry skin, rashes, and eczema. Often used in recipes as a first line herb for wounds. Traditionally used to staunch bleeding and break fevers; has antimicrobial properties.

    Yarrow’s botanical name, Achillea millefolium, originates from the legend of Achilles who reputedly distributed the plant to wounded soldiers at risk from blood loss. The plant was used by Native American tribes for skin complaints, and the Zuni chewed the flowers prior to eating or walking over fire. Today, the herb is dried for use in floral crafts and to make tinctures, infused oils and salves. Traditionally, yarrow flowers are used topically in poultices and skin washes. The flowers are also used in teas.
